The sun was never the hard part.
Solar Investor Atlas ranks solar markets, country by country, on what decides financial close: whether the buyer pays, whether the money can leave, whether the grid can take the power, and whether there is a lawful way in.
Private, by invitation.
Light is everywhere. Bankable light is not.
Every market in the atlas clears the sunshine test. Irradiance, nameplate capacity and announced pipelines are easy to find, and they are rarely the reason a project dies.
A plant’s nameplate is not what reaches the grid. A signed tariff is not a paid invoice.
Each market has one number that matters most.
Solar Investor Atlas names it, sources it and dates it.

DisCo customer collection efficiency, July 2026
Nigeria, as of 31 July 2026. NERC commercial performance factsheet, July 2026, released 25 September 2026
Every figure carries its source, its as-of date and the date by which it must be checked again.
Four questions before any score.
Can the money leave?
Currency structure
Revenue in hard currency, or indexation with a record of actually being honoured, not merely signed.
Will the buyer pay?
Bankable offtake
An offtaker whose invoices are settled, or security that stands in when they are not.
Can the grid take it?
Evacuation at scale
Lines and substations that can carry utility-scale output to where the demand is.
Is there a way in?
Procurement route
A tender, framework or licensed route that a private bid can actually use today.
No market in the atlas clears all four gates outright. Most pass only on conditions, each one named. One is stopped at the gate.
A gate is never only a colour. It is a sentence naming what has to be structured first.
Change the lens and the order changes.
A lender, a developer, a development financier and an industrial buyer read the same field differently. Six scoring pillars, weighted five ways, and the ranking moves as you watch.

Ask where a number came from. It answers.
Contested figures keep both positions instead of splitting the difference. Anything past its check-again date is flagged, not quietly kept.
